Rochester's first homicide of the new year occurred Sunday evening.

According to Rochester Police, just before 6 p.m., officers responded to the area of North Street and Herald Street for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police found a male suffering from at least one gunshot wound lying on the ground. First responders also responded, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

North Street between Wilkins Street and Avenue D is closed to traffic. Herald Street between Hudson and North Street is closed as well....

An employee of a Metro by T-Mobile was threatened with a gun and forced to lay on the floor during an armed robbery Sunday evening.

According to RPD, just after 4:30 pm., offices responded to 599 Chili Ave. where they learned a male suspect entered the store and pointed a gun at the female employee. He then forced her to lay on the ground.

Police say the suspect stole some cash, several mobile phones and then fled the store.

Rochester Police are searching for a shooter after a man was shot in the city Saturday morning.
