ROCHESTER N.Y - CITY HALL OWNS OVER 300 PROPERTYS
Our investigation turned up a lot of information City Tax payers may not know about.
there are over 300 property the city owns most of them are vacant lots and some are abandon homes and some are on foreclosure with the banks but what happens when these abandon homes are left with no one living in them.
As you may well know scrapers take over and remove all the copper and the copper wiring and the aluminum siding water heaters and furnaces are removed leaving the abandon home worthless to the bank or the city who are trying to sell the property and a price to get there money back.
The homes on the west side of the city known as maple section has had demolition going on in that area for a while now that is less houses but abandon land property Currently there are four building scheduled to be demolished sometime this year with another new one to be added shortly due to a fire that building was rules as arson by the fire dept this week and we learned that most of these abandon homes become fire torches to kids and drug dealers in the area especially when they hide there drugs in the vacant building from police.
back in 2014 and 2015 I did a news stories on the former delco building on Orchard street where there was two fires set on purpose by someone people in the neighborhood agreed that something needed to be done and I volunteer to do the story..
That building was demolished a year later and lucky it was because the from of the building the bricks came tumbling down in the street luckily to one was hurt or injured or killed from the falling debre when it came crashing down where were there when it happens and took video of the mess it made.
