PFIZER: Fourth COVID Shot May Be Needed to Protect Against Variants of the Virus Empty PFIZER: Fourth COVID Shot May Be Needed to Protect Against Variants of the Virus

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla suggested Wednesday that a fourth COVID injection could soon be necessary to adequately protect an individual from new variants and strains of the Coronavirus.

“Bourla told CNBC that he previously thought a fourth shot may be needed 12 months after the third dose, but with omicron, that timeline may need to be moved up,” reports The Hill.

“I think we will need the fourth dose,” he said. “With omicron, we need to wait and see because we have very little information. We may need it faster.”

It remains unclear how boosters and other injections could impact vaccination mandates across the country.

The City of Los Angeles suspended at least 100 firefighters without pay this week for violating local COVID vaccine mandates; sparking fears of potential shortages of First Responders and other emergency services.

“The policy requires all city employees to get vaccinated by Dec. 18, or submit negative test results twice weekly at their own expense, ABC7 reported. If a requested exemption is approved, then the employee must undergo a weekly test at the city’s expense,” reports Fox News.

A judge denied a request by the Los Angeles city firefighters' union for a preliminary injunction to block the city's mandate requiring its employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19, saying the balancing of harms favored protecting the public's health. https://t.co/ogEFK4kr0x

“The fire department sent 222 notices to staffers, who had not submitted their vaccination status or applied for an exemption, warning of the suspension without pay,” adds Fox. “As of Monday, 113 firefighters had not complied and were removed from duty for the alleged breach.”
