ROCHESTER, N.Y. The Rochester Police Department is investigating three separate overnight shootings in the city.

The first took place just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Lyell Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, officers discovered that a group of people had been gathering in the area of Lyell Avenue and multiple gunshots had been fired. While police were investigating, a man in his 20s who had been shot at least once in the upper body arrived at Strong Hospital in a personal car. Police say his injuries are non-life-threatening.

The second shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday on 6th Street. As RPD responded to reports of shots fired, a man in his 30s arrived at Strong Hospital in a personal car.

“The victim had been shot at least once as he exited a vehicle on 6th Street,” Capt. Ryan Tauriello said via email. “The vehicle which he exited was also struck by gunfire. Thankfully, the adult female and infant in the vehicle were not injured.”

The man’s injuries are non-life-threatening. Police also learned that a nearby house on that street had been struck by gunfire, but the two adults inside the home were not hurt.

The third shooting took place around 5 a.m. Sunday on Hudson Avenue. Police found a man in his 20s with at least one gunshot wound to the lower body. The victim was rushed to Strong Hospital in an ambulance, and his condition is currently unknown.

RPD has not named suspects in any of these incidents at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

RPD tells us officers responded to 3 shootings overnight. All victims are expected to survive.

Sixth St - 1:30am - man in his 30’s
Hudson Ave - 5am - man in his 20’s

Another story Three caught with weapons by New York State Police

Rochester, N.Y. — The New York State Police have arrested three Rochester residents after a traffic stop on North Clinton Avenue Friday.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as, Cameron Scott, 19, was unlicensed and had a loaded 9mm handgun.

Scott was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

There were two other passengers in the vehicle.

Johnny Rosario, 35, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degree and an 18-year-old was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

All 3 were taken to the Monroe County Jail.

Rochester Police identify man shot in overnight homicide on Chili Ave.

Rochester, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department is investigating a homicide that took place around 3:00 a.m. Saturday on Chili Avenue.

Officers say the victim, Bryan Harrell Sr. 43, was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Police say Harrell Sr. was outside of 565 Chili Avenue, grilling on the sidewalk with others around a bonfire. Several shots were fired and Harrell Sr was fatally shot.

The department's Major Crimes Unit is investigating and asking anyone with information to call 911 or the Major Crimes Unit .

Police say Chili Avenue between Thurston Road and Depew Street will remain closed during the investigation, and some surrounding side streets in that area have limited access.
